Maryland trucking accidents: Tractor-trailer crash kills 2

On Monday, March 11, two people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Maryland. A total of 12 vehicles were involved, including a tractor-trailer whose driver allegedly caused the crash. Following trucking accidents, those injured and those who have lost loved ones may be entitled to seek compensation for their losses through legal means if negligence can be established. In this case, legal counsel would have the ability to review the details of the tragedy in order to help the injured victims and the family members of the deceased determine if pursuing civil claims is appropriate.

According to news reports, at approximately 7 a.m., a ShopRite tractor-trailer was on Route 24 headed southbound when, for reasons unknown, the driver failed to stop for traffic. The truck plowed into several cars, two of which became lodged underneath it. The tractor-trailer and the two cars caught on fire. A 65-year-old male in one of the cars died in the wreck -- this individual happened to be the president of ShopRite, -- as did a 7-year -old boy who was in another vehicle. A total of six people were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The truck driver was uninjured in the wreck. As of the latest report, no charges have been filed against him and it is unclear if any charges are pending in this case. Alcohol and drugs are not thought to have contributed to the event. The investigation into this matter is still ongoing.

Trucking accidents can devastate victims and their families in a number of ways. The state of Maryland understands this and allows these individuals to seek compensation for their losses through legal means, if doing so is deemed appropriate. Those who suffered injuries or lost loved ones in this particular event can turn to an experienced attorney for assistance seeking maximum relief for their losses.
